This week's NEWS

The NRC's report on EPA's fluoride MCL is out, and they think maybe the MCL of FOUR parts per million should be lower. But NRC emphasizes... it's Not About Fluoridation – no matter what some naysayers say! Manganese stirs up interest in Wisconsin's capital city. Not everyone is all that excited about bottled water! Will the next EPA Groundwater Rule you see be the final? Reuse is big in Phoenix, California, and maybe in Australia?

Federal Updates

  • USEPA offers more bacterial occurrence data for review re: the final Groundwater Rule (Federal Register, March 27)
Commentary: While EPA is operating under a court-mandated deadline for this long-simmering rule, many in the water quality field wonder aloud: "How do you go directly to a final rule from an aged and decrepit proposed rule?" Will there be another chance to comment on what will soon become a final regulation?
