Hurricane Katrina Update

  • Our thoughts are with the millions of residents of the Katrina impact areas and with the unsung heroes: The thousands of water agency/utility employees who are responding to the emergency in myriad ways, often taking them into harm's way!  We salute you all!

    The situation regarding the safety (and availability) of drinking water in the hard-hit areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida is very much in flux.  There are a lot of health advisories based more on precaution than on water quality data which, appropriately, will remain in place for some time.  A few examples are:
