A Special Message To Our Readers

As many of you know, McGuire Environmental Consultants, Inc., merged with Malcolm Pirnie, Inc., effective April 1, 2005 (see press release). I want to personally assure all of our readers that Malcolm Pirnie is as committed to providing the service of this newsletter to our readers as I have been. We are now four and a half years old and very proud of the acceptance and utility of our efforts. Subscribers write to us all the time and tell us how they use the newsletter in their professional lives. I am particularly pleased when a professor makes the newsletter required reading for a drinking water quality course. Most gratifying is when we hear from a water treatment plant operator who tells us that she is able to keep up-to-date and pass certification exams based on what she learns from the newsletter.

Thank you, loyal readers, for your unwavering support.  We need your feedback and we will always strive for improvements in the newsletter so that we can meet your needs.  I will continue to be deeply involved in the newsletter publication and I will be working to ensure that we stay true to our original mission and purpose.

Finally and most importantly, I want to thank Jonathan Valdez, Jennifer Smith and Chet Anderson who have put the newsletter together every week for the past four years.  Without them, none of this would have happened.  I am deeply grateful for their hard work and excellent skills.

Michael J. McGuire, Publisher

This week's NEWS

California risk assessors set target for perchlorate and, of course, EVERYONE is happy with the number... sure they are! There WILL be a Ground Water Rule from USEPA... someday. The suspense is killing... but the weight may be worse than the wait. All you ever wanted to know about NaCl as it's applied to roads... upgradient from drinking water wells! Immunity for MTBE is back on the front burner again as Congress considers Energy Bill. We can't actually "speak" for the water (no parlez-vous français!) but Eau de Paris really knows how to make a bottle!
