Colorado waste discharges to streams may be creating "gender bias"....at least in our fishy friends? Terminology gets a once-over in California......where Public Health Goals drive the public wild......Action Levels will now engender notification or response? AwwaRF provides lead research overview, utilities defend their programs and Senators give knee-jerk reactions to lead exposé. Who has new reports on control of microbials in drinking water? WHO does. • USMC report on Camp LeJeune concludes: No cover-up! (Tuscaloosa News, October 7) The full report (PDF file, 103 pages)
Commentary: The essence of the official report: It did not find evidence of a cover-up by the Marines, something that former base residents have charged....The base's response was sluggish....and was caused by "a convergence of multiple factors" at the base and government regulations that were rapidly changing in that era.....Camp Lejeune's water met the standards of the time, the panel said....The base's approach of not addressing contaminants until regulations required action was also typical of the U.S. water industry at the time."
