This week's NEWS

EPA goes on a virtual enforcement rampage... fining individual Board members in a tiny system in Puerto Rico and getting the jump on California which hasn't adopted the Stage 1 DBP rule yet!!! Albuquerque says NRDC report is bogus! In Idaho, you mess with the DWQ regulators... you go to jail (especially if your ex-wife rats you out in a divorce proceeding!) Kentucky says "Don't worry. Be happy!" over numerous DBP violation notices. Desalting is needed someplace other than California and Florida! And there's a little bit of everything else this week... wait! Not even one fluoridation story?

MTBE/Ethanol
  • More MTBE found in Pennsylvania community's private wells (Kennett Paper, June 12)
Commentary: The spokesman for the oil company owners of the suspect gas station source surely alleviated the neighbors' concerns with statements that "MTBE can be found nearly everywhere" and "there's more than MTBE in the water."
