Water Treatment
  • Ozone disinfection to begin this summer for Las Vegas, NV area
(Las Vegas Review Journal, May 12)
Commentary: This mish-mash of reporting suggests that Southern Nevada Water Authority's initiation of ozone treatment at its Alfred Smith WTP this year somehow started the debate in D.C. about security of chemical plants. While it is a good example of bad journalism, anyone who wants to find out how ozonation works (high electrical voltage is NOT used to kill bugs!) would be well-served by checking out SNWA's website.
